Don't be afraid of failure, be afraid of succeeding at something with no eternal value.
Are you considering ways to invest your life in work that matters for eternity? Do you specially want to reach South Asians but don't necessarily want to live in South Asia? Are you willing to trust God to provide your financial support? Then consider a Naya Jeevan fulltime or part-time missionary commitment!

The above positions are available in the following three categories of Cru staff:
Affiliate Staff (Volunteer)
This is a part-time volunteer staff member of Cru. Affiliates may work in other employment and volunteer 4 or more hours per week with Naya Jeevan. Supervision and on-the-job training will be provided. Affiliate staff may join singly (without spouse) and are not required to attend Cru new staff training. They may raise support for ministry expenses but, as volunteers, do not receive salary. They may live anywhere in the US and must have valid visa status that allows them to have a Social Security number.
Part-time Field Staff
The Part-time Field Staff member may work in other employment while also serving as a part-time missionary with Naya Jeevan, 15 to 29 hours per week. Part-time missionaries raise support for their part-time salary and ministry expenses. They are required to move to where the Naya Jeevan team is located (Dallas as of January 2016), and married applicants may join individually or together.
Fulltime Field Staff
This is for the career-minded missionary! Join the staff of Cru to serve fulltime as a missionary with Naya Jeevan. Attendance at Cru New Staff Training is required. Moving to Dallas, where Naya Jeevan will be based as of January 2016, is required. Raise support for fulltime salary and ministry expenses. For married couples, if one spouse joins fulltime staff, the other may opt to join fulltime or affiliate staff.
RAISING FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Ready for a faith challenge? Cru does not have funds to "hire" or "sponsor" field staff members. All Cru part-time and fulltime missionaries have the privilege of trusting God to provide their financial support through interested friends and churches. Cru provides training and supervision! These funds will cover both salary and ministry expenses, as well as Cru’s assessment for overhead. Affiliates and Associates may raise funds for ministry expenses only.
There are many biblical examples of God’s people providing for those who do God’s work:
“You will do well to send them [those serving the Lord] on their way in a manner worthy of God. It was for the sake of the Name that they went out, receiving no help from the pagans. We ought therefore to show hospitality to such men so that we may work together for the truth” (3 John 6-8).
The Philippians were praised for sharing with Paul “in the matter of giving and receiving” (Phil. 4:10-19).
“See that you excel in this grace of giving” (2 Cor. 8:7).
Phrases such as “help me on my journey,” “send him on his way,” refer to financial support for missionary work (Rom. 15:24, 16:21; 1 Cor. 16:6, 11; 2 Cor. 1:16).
When the Jews went into exile in Babylon, God told them to settle into their new land: “Build houses… plant gardens… marry… and increase in number there. Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper” (Jer. 29:5-7). What better way to seek the peace and prosperity of the land to which we have immigrated than to introduce non-believers to the Prince of Peace! The evangelism and giving commitments of the South Asian believers and churches in America need to reflect that reality by investing in missionaries to South Asians here in America.
Q&A about serving the Lord with Naya Jeevan
Does Cru have a ministry reaching South Asians? Yes, it's Naya Jeevan Project, aka South Asian Diaspora Ministries.
What is the target area and target audience of Naya Jeevan? We are based in North America and reach out to the people of South Asian origin both here and abroad. South Asians here include Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Nepalis, and Bhutanese, as well as those of South Asian descent born in other countries who have migrated here. The dominant religions of these countries form the major unreached mega-peoples of the world.
Is Naya Jeevan a campus or community ministry? We work with adults in the community and with churches, rather than students. First generation immigrants feel the culture shock and are open to friendships and Christ-like love. Second generation young adults struggle with generational conflicts and need a sense of identity. These needs are best met in Christ.
Where is Naya Jeevan located? As of January 2016 we will be based in Dallas, Texas. The scope of the ministry, however, includes not only North America, but South Asian countries and other diaspora places where South Asians live in significant communities.
What types of positions do you offer? We offer:
Affiliate Staff – A part-time volunteer staff position with Cru; minimum commitment 4 hours per week
Part-time missionary staff – Just like it sounds, field ministry but part-time; time commitment 15 to 29 hours per week; may work in other employment at the same time
Fulltime missionary staff – For the career-minded! Field ministry or support ministry based on skills and experience.
How would I be paid? As part-time and fulltime staff, you would trust God to provide financial support by raising up ministry partners who give toward your salary and/or ministry expenses. Cru provides training and coaches to work with you in that. Affiliate staff may be self-supporting, or they may also raise support for ministry expenses (not salary).
How does it work for married staff? For affiliate and part-time staff, married couples have the option of both joining together, or one spouse joining alone. If one spouse joins fulltime staff, the other is encouraged to join fulltime also, or may opt to be only affiliate staff, which would allow that spouse to work in a secular job.
Would I live in Dallas? The team will be based in Dallas as of January 2016 and new fulltime and part-time staff would live and minister there. Affiliate staff may live anywhere in North America and report to the director of Naya Jeevan.
Who is the Director of Naya Jeevan? Cathy Douglass, a Campus Crusade staff member since 1978, started Naya Jeevan in 2003. Cathy has over 20 years experience working with South Asians in India, Africa, USA, and elsewhere.
What would I actually do on the job? That depends on the experience and skill set that you bring with you. Naya Jeevan is a small team poised for growth based on the abilities of those who join, as they fit in with our vision and strategies. You could “major” in personal direct evangelism or office administration, teaching and training or internet work, among other possibilities.
What are some experience and skills that Naya Jeevan desires? Any of these could enable you to perform a strategic role with Naya Jeevan:
- Leading, supervising
- Cross-cultural experience
- Mission trips
- Internet ministry
- Writing, editing
- Web design
- Teaching, training
- Graphic design
- English as a Foreign Language
- Administrative skills
- Business/professional background
Would the job involve traveling? Yes, opportunities for travel around North America include conducting seminars, recruiting, conferences, and outreaches; or travel abroad on South Asian mission trips.
What is your vision? We envision every major city having worshipping communities of Hindu Background Believers following Christ; every major city having effective, fully resourced ministries to South Asians; American Christians perceiving immigrants with a warm, welcoming, and evangelistic love in the name of Christ; and non-Christian South Asians having a positive and accurate view of Jesus and Christianity as a basis for saving faith.
What are some of Naya Jeevan's strategies to accomplish this vision?
• South Asia Wired internet ministry
• Breakthrough Prayer Strategy
• Love Your Neighbor evangelism seminar
• Jesus Film Mission Trips to South Asian countries
• Festival outreach
• Domestic mission trips
• Southern Cross - Adopt a zip code of South Asian addresses for prayer and outreach
• And room for much more, as God provides the staff to develop new ideas!
What's the bottom line?
Bottom line is, if you have a heart for reaching out to the peoples or religions of South Asia, Naya Jeevan can be the place for you to serve!
